In the beginning, there was nothing but void and darkness in the world. Then, a beam of light came. This was the smile of Devi Shakti. She gave life to the universe. She gave form to the Trimurti of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh.
When the Trimurti did penance, devi Shakti took the form of Devi Siddhidatri and blessed them with Siddhi in the form of Devi Saraswati, Devi Lakshmi, and Devi Parvati. The strength of the lords was in the devis.
Bhagwan Shiva continued with the penance. Devi Shakti went in and formed the left part of Bhagwan Shiva. That’s how lord shiva came to be known as Ardhanareshwara and achieved absolute perfection.
The tip of the ending of the Ashtami and the starting of the Navami is when Maa Durga involved herself in the battle against Mahisahuasura. She was attached by Chanda Asur and Munda Asur. Devi Chamunda materialised from the 3rd eye of the Durga and she killed Chanda and Munda at the cusp of Ashtami and Navami.
