What is Rajjotok Meaning in Astrology?

As per Vedic astrology, Rajjotok is when there is a perfect Kundali match between couples. It means that when the gunas or characteristics of two Kundalis when matched give maximum points it is called Rajjotok. To determine Rajjotok, Guna Milan or Ashtakoot Milan is performed.
After the results of Guna Milan are favourable, couples are advised for marriage. However, if the results of the birth chart matching or Kundali matching are not favourable then the marriage is not advised as it is believed it may lead to a disturbing and troublesome marital life.
What is Rajjotok in Astrology?
There are 36 gunas or characteristics in a Kundali. If all the 36 characteristics of a couple match then it is called a Rajjotok in marriage, which means they will make a perfect couple and will have a blessed and perfect married life.
However, as per Vedic astrology, for a favourable marriage, 36 out of 36 gunas don’t need to be matched. The minimum 18 gunas out of 36 should match for a favourable marriage. But matching 36 out of 36 is very rare and hence it is called Rajjotok.
In a person’s Kundali or janam patri (birth chart), guna represents different aspects of his/her life from health, love, work, temperament, state of mind, destiny, sensitivity, prospects of being parents, controlling nature, etc. Therefore, it gives a fair picture of the different characters and prospects of one person’s life and how they can be compatible or incompatible with another person.
Factors considered when deciding Rajjotok to astrology
Hence, as per astrological beliefs, settling Rajjotok includes studying various aspects such as the placement of the Moon, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn in the couple’s birth chart, the location of the ascendant, and the ideal timing of the wedding. Based on these aspects, the astrologer understands and concludes the most appropriate time for the couple to get married to ensure matrimonial bliss, unity and harmony.
There are 8 different Kootas that require to be matched to determine Rajjotok or favourable marriage. Due it 8 Kootas it is called Ashtakootas Milan. It refers to the different behaviours and characters of the prospective bride and groom. Each Koota is allotted some points and while matching the points, characters of both prospective bride and grooms are matched to get the final guna milan point.
The points allotted to Kootas are:
- If Varna Koota is favourable it gives a maximum of 1 point
- If Vashya Koota is favourable it gives a maximum of 2 points
- If Tara Koota is favourable it gives a maximum of 3 points
- If Yoni Koota is favourable it gives a maximum of 4 points
- If Graha Maitri Koota is favourable it gives 5 a maximum of points
- If Gana Koota is favourable it gives 6 a maximum of points
- If Rashi Koota is favourable it gives 7 a maximum of points
- If Nadi Koota is favourable it gives 8 a maximum of points
What is the Ashtakoota Score?
From this table, you can understand which range of points leads to what kind of marriage.
- 28-36 Guna Score Mostly excellent but some good
- 18-27 Guna Score Majority of good and some average
- 10-17 Guna Score Some average and majority below average
- 0-09 Guna Score Mostly bad and some below average
You must take note that if couples marry even after knowing they have less than 18 matching gunas, then they have a very troublesome marriage. They face a lot of challenges in their married life and it is very difficult for them to live together happily. The problems may include financial, childbirth problems, mental issues, physical problems, sexual dissatisfaction, bonding, love for each other and more.
