The Ekadashi falling in the Shukla Paksha of the Magh month is known as the Jaya Ekadashi. This year, Jaya Ekadashi will be observed on Tuesday, February 20. It is deemed highly auspicious to worship Vasudev Devaki Nandan Shri Krishna on this day. Jaya Ekadashi, as per the Gregorian calendar, typically falls between January and February. It is believed that if this Ekadashi coincides with a Thursday, its auspiciousness is further enhanced. This Ekadashi is celebrated in honour of Bhagwan Vishnu, one of the three principal Hindu deities.

The timing of Jaya Ekadashi is as follows:
- Time: 08.50 a.m., Friday, February 19, to 09.52 a.m., Saturday, February 20.
- Puja Muhurta: 09.45 a.m. – 02.00 p.m.
- The fast will be broken on: February 21, 2024, from 06.55 a.m. to 09.11 a.m.

Jaya Ekadashi’s Importance
It is mentioned in the Padma Purana that by observing the Jaya Ekadashi fast, one gets freedom from all kinds of sins and bad habits. Also, the seeker gets all the material and spiritual happiness in life. It is believed that by observing the Jaya Ekadashi fast, one attains salvation after death. Therefore, observe this fast, following the rules.
Observing Jaya Ekadashi facilitates the journey of one’s ancestors to heaven. Its influence extends to ten generations on the paternal side and ten generations on the maternal side, aiding them in attaining salvation.
During the Jaya Ekadashi fast, one needs to worship the Madhava form of Lord Vishnu. According to the Puranas, fasting and worship are associated with achieving victory. Bhagwan Krishna himself, while explaining the importance of this day to Yudhishthir, said that by fasting on this day, a person gets freedom from sins like Brahmahatya.

The puja Vidhi for Jaya Ekadashi is simple; it is as follows:
- Wake up early in the morning on the day of Jaya Ekadashi.
- Wear clean clothes after bathing.
- Offer water to the banana plant.
- If possible, take a resolution too fast.
- After this, offer incense and lamp to Lord Vishnu. Next, offer him Tulsi leaves and panchamrit.
- Chant the mantras of Lord Vishnu.
- Along with Lord Vishnu, worship Goddess Lakshmi as well.
- After this, perform aarti of all the gods and goddesses along with Lord Vishnu.
- After the puja is over, distribute the prasad to everyone and consume it yourself.
