Paush Putrada Ekadashi Vrat Katha
Once upon a time, there was a king named Suketuman and his queen Shaivya who ruled over the prosperous kingdom of Bhadravati. Despite having everything, the royal couple was always sad and worried because they had no children and there was no heir to the throne.
Feeling desperate, King Suketuman even considered taking his own life, but he realised it would be a sinful act. Overwhelmed by his situation, he decided to go to the forest instead of staying in the royal palace. He observed the birds and animals in the forest, finding solace in nature. Eventually, he reached the banks of a river, where he discovered an ashram.
In the ashram, the king confided in a wise rishi about his sorrow and how the lack of children troubled him. The rishi, known as Muni, then shared the story of Putrada Ekadashi with the king. Inspired by the rishi’s advice, King Suketuman observed the fast of Putrada Ekadashi according to the prescribed rules.
Following the fast, the queen conceived within a few days, and the couple was blessed with a baby boy. This story of Putrada Ekadashi became significant, especially for those who aspire to become parents.
