Shri Sankashta Nashana Ganesha Stotram, popularly known as Sankata Nasana Ganesha Stotram is a prayer to Bhagwan Ganesha. Devotees of Ganapati believe chanting this Stotram regularly will help eliminate all problems, all difficulties and sorrows from their lives.
“Sankata” means Problem, and “Nashana” means removal or elimination. प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं गौरीपुत्रं विनायकम् ।
भक्तावासं स्मरेन्नित्यमायुष्कामार्थसिद्धये ॥ १ ॥
Pranamya Shirasaa Devam Gauree Putram Vinaayakam ।
Bhaktaa Vaasam Smarennitya Maayuh Kaamaartha Siddhaye ॥1॥
Meaning
By bowing your head to the son of Paarvati, Devadeva Shri Ganesh ji, for the fulfilment of your age, desire and wealth, remember that ‘abode of devotees’ regularly ॥1॥
प्रथमं वक्रतुण्डं च एकदन्तं द्वितीयकम् ।
तृतीयं कृष्णपिङ्गाक्षं गजवक्त्रं चतुर्थकम् ॥ २ ॥
लम्बोदरं पञ्चमं च षष्ठं विकटमेव च ।
सप्तमं विघ्नराजेन्द्रं धूम्रवर्णं तथाष्टमम् ॥ ३ ॥
नवमं भालचन्द्रं च दशमं तु विनायकम् ।
एकादशं गणपतिं द्वादशं तु गजाननम् ॥ ४ ॥
द्वादशैतानि नामानि त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेन्नरः ।
न च विघ्नभयं तस्य सर्वसिद्धिकरं परम् ॥ ५ ॥
Prathamam Vakratundam Cha Ekadantam Dviteeyakam ।
Triteeyam Krishna Pingaaksham Gajavaktram Chaturthakam ॥2॥
Lambodaram Panchamam Cha Shashtham Vikatameva Cha ।
Saptamam Vighna Raajendram Dhumra Varnam Tathaashtamam ॥3॥
Navamam Bhaala Chandram Cha Dashamam Tu Vinaayakam ।
Ekaadasham Ganapatim Dvaadasham Tu Gajaananam ॥4॥
Dvaadashaitaani Naamaani Trisandhyam Yah Pathennarah ।
Na Cha Vighna Bhayam Tasya Sarva Siddhi Karam Param ॥5॥
Meaning
First ‘Vakratunda‘ (having curved trunk) Second ‘Ekadanta‘ (having one tooth), Third ‘Krishna Pingaaksha‘ (having black and brown eyes), Fourth ‘Gajavaktra‘ (having elephant-like face), Fifth ‘Lambodara‘ (having big belly), Sixth ‘Vikata‘ (Formidable), Seventh ‘Vighna Raajendra‘ (the king who rules over obstacles), Eighth ‘Dhumravarna‘ (who has grey complexion), Ninth ‘Bhaala Chandra‘ (the moon is adorned on his forehead), Tenth ‘Vinayaka‘, Eleventh ‘Ganapati‘ and Twelfth ‘Gajaanana‘.
The man who recites these twelve names three times (morning, midday and evening), O Lord! He is not afraid of any kind of disturbance. This type of remembrance gives all accomplishments ॥2 – 5॥
विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम् ।
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान् मोक्षार्थी लभते गतिम् ॥ ६ ॥
Vidyaarthee Labhate Vidyaam Dhanaarthee Labhate Dhanam ।
Putraarthee Labhate Putraan Mokshaarthee Labhate Gatim ॥6॥
Meaning
With this, the desirous of knowledge gets knowledge, desirous of wealth gets wealth, desirous of son gets son and desirous of salvation attains salvation ॥6॥
जपेद् गणपतिस्तोत्रं षड्भिर्मासैः फलं लभेत् ।
संवत्सरेण सिद्धिं च लभते नात्र संशयः ॥ ७ ॥
Japed Ganapati Stotram Shadbhir Maasaih Phalam Labhet ।
Samvatsarena Siddhim Cha Labhate Naatra Sanshayah ॥7॥
Meaning
One who chants this Ganapati Stotra gets the desired result in six months and attains complete accomplishment in one year. There is no doubt about it ॥7॥
अष्टभ्यो ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च लिखित्वा यः समर्पयेत् ।
तस्य विद्या भवेत् सर्वा गणेशस्य प्रसादतः ॥ ८ ॥
Ashtabhyo Braahmane Bhyashcha Likhitvaa Yah Samarpayet ।
Tasya Vidyaa Bhavet Sarvaa Ganeshasya Prasaadatah ॥8॥
Meaning
The person who writes this and surrenders it to eight brahmins, by the grace of Ganesha, he gets all kinds of knowledge ॥8॥
