Shri Krishna’s Advice to Arjuna: 3 ways to reach your goal

In the Hindu epic, Mahabharata, Lord Krishna helped Arjuna with valuable advice on how to reach his goals. Obviously, Arjuna was hesitating to fight a war against his own relatives though he was a skilled warrior. Lord Krishna was Arjuna’s charioteer. He advised Arjuna on how to overcome his fears and achieve his goals.
The advice to Arjuna can be summarised into three main ways to reach your goal. They are- Proper Planning, Diligent Action, and a Detached Attitude.
1. Proper Planning:
Proper planning is the first step toward reaching your goal. Before going into battle, Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to make a plan. He says a well-thought-out plan leads a person to success. Similarly, if you want to achieve your goals, you should know what steps you need to take.
For example, if your goal is to start your own business, plan the outlines of your strategies, and action steps. A realistic, achievable, and time-bound plan should be made. Therefore, you will be better equipped to take action toward achieving your goal by having a clear plan in place.
2. Diligent Action:
After having a plan in place, the next step is to take diligent action. Arjuna receives advice from Lord Krishna to act with determination and focus on the task at hand. He says that those who work hard and persevere achieve success. In the same way, you need to take consistent and focused action toward your goals, in order to achieve them.
For example, you need to train regularly and diligently, if your goal is to become a professional athlete. Time and effort need to be put into improving your skills and developing your physical fitness. Consistent action toward your goal will help make progress and eventually achieve it.
3. Detached Attitude:
A detached attitude is the third way to reach your goal. Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to be detached from the outcome of the battle. He says that success and failure should not affect one’s sense of self as both are temporary. Similarly, you need to have a detached attitude towards them, if you want to achieve your goals.
For example, if your goal is to get a promotion at work, you should do your best without getting too attached to the outcome. You should learn from your mistakes and be ready to accept failure. Having a detached attitude towards your goals will help you to stay focused on the present moment.
