Navratri and Durga Puja are around the corner and you must be planning many things for this festive season. Many people want to give a new look to their house, so why not look for Vastu tips to increase the flow of positive energy into your house? Festivals are auspicious times but many times due to a lack of positive energy inside and outside the house the festive spirit seems missing. There can be many reasons for that. However, Vastu can help you change your negative energy into a positive one.
This Navratri/Durga Puja, welcome Maa Durga into your home with these easy Vastu tips.
Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian Vedic study of architecture science that teaches the principles of design, layout, space arrangement, etc. to build a structure that maintains the balance of all positive energies. Vastu Shastra is believed to create a harmonious space by balancing the five elements of nature for a prosperous future. Though Vastu Shastra uses different ways to deal with the energy forces of all nine planets and the five elements that are connected to all nine planets, it is very close to astrology and may even connect with it for more accurate solutions.
As per Vastu, you can bring positive energy into your living and working space by placing certain things in certain places or structures or changing the position of certain spaces, which would further impact the lives of those who reside or work in them. Thus, Vastu has the potential to affect our lives immensely.
Vastu Shastra helps you balance all the 5 elements – space, air, fire, water, and earth in your living and working space correctly. If the balance is maintained, you will experience peace, prosperity and harmony and if you fail to create or maintain the balance, you will experience problems, turmoil and failures. Therefore, Vastu is essential for every living and working space.
Let the Positive Energy of Navratri Bless Your Home
Festivals are the time when the atmosphere around is excellent and the timings are very auspicious when you can feel the positivity in the air. Navratris are one of the most awaited and auspicious Sanatan Hindu festivals in India. This is the time to welcome Goddess Durga into our homes and seek her blessings for happiness, peace and prosperity, in all our lives. This is the time when you can bring the excellent positive energy of this auspicious timing to your house and workspace to create a harmonious and prosperous atmosphere.
However, as per Vedic astrology, you will succeed in creating a positive atmosphere only if your home or workspace has positive energy, which is not possible if your home or workspace has ‘Vastu dosha’. Places with Vast Dosha cannot reap the fruit of the auspicious timing of Navratris.
So, here we thought of bringing you some special Vastu tips for Navratri which will help you seek the blessings of Maa Durga and bring peace and prosperity into your home.
Essential Vastu Tips for your Home, this Navratri
Unclutter Your Living Space
Gods and Goddesses do not reside in cluttered and dirty places. Also, if your house is full of clutter, disorganised, unnecessary items dumped in a place, cobwebs and bad smells, it will attract negative energy. You will see an increase in quarrels, diseases and many other problems. So, it is essential to clean and unclutter your house in the first place to attract positive energy into your home. If you can afford, get it coloured afresh, if you cannot afford just clean, unclutter, remove all foul smells and keep things in order. You will experience positive vibes automatically and even the presence of Maa Durga in your home.
Remove all Dirty and Broken Things from Your House
This is essential as in Vastu Shastra it is believed dirty and broken things bring negative energy into your house. Anything that is broken and not in use and cannot be repaired should be removed from the house.
Swastik On The Main Door
Put a Swastik or make a Swastik on the main door of your house or the entrance of your house. Swastik is believed to be auspicious for a home entrance. It brings positive vibes and wards off negativity. Make the house disease-free and bring home good luck and prosperity. You can draw the Swastik using vermillion (Sindoor) or Turmeric (Haldi) along with rice. If you are not sure how to draw a Swastik get help from your local Pandit or somebody who knows it.
Tie Toran On The Entrance Door
You can use mango leaves and flowers to make a beautiful toran for your entrance door. Tying torans made of mango leaves at the main door or even simply hanging a bunch of mango leaves prevents negative energies from getting into your house. To make toran, take some fresh mango leaves, wash them properly and then use a red thread to tie them together. Finally, tie them to the entrance or main door. It protects us from all evils.
Plant Tulsi In The House
According to astrology, Tulsi has a lot of significance in Hindu dharma. It protects us from all evil things and it also has medicinal properties. If you plant a Tulsi in your house it will prevent negative energies from entering your house. If you have not planted a Tulsi plant at home, make sure this Navratri, you plant one. Also, Tulsi must always be planted on the northeast side of the house. Do not allow clutter around your Tulis plant and keep it hydrated.
Kalash With Flowers In Your Puja Room or Mandir
Take a Kalash, fill it with clean water, add some flowers to the water and place it in your temple or puja room on the first day of the Navratri. Once Navratri is over, on the last day that is on the Navami, sprinkle this water all over your house. This will bring good luck, happiness, success and prosperity to your home.
NOTE: This is not Ghatsthapna for puja that requires proper dharmic rituals for the placing of Ghat/Kalash in your mandir. If you want Ghatsthapna, consult your local Pandit.
Light Akhand Jyot
Lighting of diya or jyot is an essential part of any Sanatan Hindu puja and festival. During Navratri, devotees light Akhand jyot as it is believed Navratri puja is incomplete without akhand jyot. Akhand jyot means infinite light. It is believed that lighting it during Navratri right from the first day of Navratri is auspicious. It brings good luck, happiness and good fortune to the home. Make sure you light it on the first day of Navratri. Also, never place Akhand jyot directly on the ground, use a platform. Consult your Pandit ji to know the correct way to place and light Akhand jyot.
Perform Kanya Puja and Prepare Bhog
In Sanatan Hindu dharma, Kanya Puja is a very auspicious ritual and tradition that devotees usually perform during Navratris. So, perform Kanya puja on Ashtami or Navami at your home. Prepare Bhog for the young girls (Kanyas) as they are believed to be the embodiment of Devi Durga. During the puja, offer the Bhog to the Kanyas and make sure they have the Bhog while sitting on the ground. Also, they must be facing the east or west direction while having their Bhog. This helps in removing all Vastu dosha from the home and attracts positive energy.
